Verbal Bachelorette Shower Games

Entertain bachelorette or bridal shower guests with a few simple games.

Bachelorette parties and bridal showers traditionally involve the bride's close friends and family members. Games are an easy way to liven up the party and also serve as an ice breaker for guests who may not know each other. Choose two or three games as not to overwhelm the guests, and tailor the games to the age range of the crowd. Save the wild or risque games for all-adult, friends-only get-togethers.

  1. Never Have I Ever

    • This game can be as tame or as wild as you want with a few simple variations. Go around in a circle with each person saying "Never have I ever..." and completing the sentence with an action. For example, "Never have I ever snuck backstage at a concert" or "Never have I ever kissed a friend's boyfriend." If someone in the group has done it, they take a sip of a drink. If there are older relatives or kids present, tone down the questions, remove the drinks and have the person raise their hand or stand up and do a crazy dance move if they've done the deed mentioned.

    Bridal Trivia

    • Prepare a list of questions about the bride and read them aloud to see who knows her the best. Questions could range from the bride's favorite movie to the name of her first boyfriend or the street where she lived as a child. The more obscure the questions, the better. Offer a small prize such as an inexpensive bottle of wine or a bath set to the person who answers the most questions correctly.

    The Newlywed Game

    • This game requires advance preparation. Ask the groom a series of questions about himself or about their relationship and either record his answers on video or write them down. At the party, ask the bride to answer the same questions about the groom and see how many she gets right. After she answers all of the questions, play the video to hear the groom's answers, or read them out loud. For a variation on this game, make the bride put a piece of gum or a marshmallow in her mouth every time she answers incorrectly.

    Banned Words

    • Select a few words that are banned from the event. The words could be anything from the groom's name to the word "bride." Hand out the same trinket to every guest, whether it's a beaded necklace or plastic ring. Every time a guest says one of the forbidden words, the first person who hears it gets to steal the offender's trinket. The guest with the most trinkets at the end of the party wins. Another variation is to hand each guest 10 grains of rice at the beginning of the party instead of one trinket; the guest with the most grains at the end of the party wins.
