Reuse aluminum pie pans to make fun crafts for kids.

Cooking for a crowd of friends and family is a great way to entertain. Disposable aluminum pans and trays make serving food easy. The best part is that aluminum pans make the perfect crafting medium once washed and dried. Disposable aluminum pie pans, plates and platters are easily transformed into fun crafts for kids. All you need is some spare time and basic crafting supplies to get started.

  1. Ornaments

    • Turn an ordinary disposable aluminum tray into something extraordinary with a pair of scissors and paint. Cut the tray into a variety of shapes and paint on accents, such as facial features or attractive patterns. Punch a hole into the top center of each ornament and insert a length of ribbon for easy hanging. The ornaments add a bit of whimsy to any room in the home.

    Wind Chimes

    • A disposable aluminum pie pan makes the perfect base for a charming wind chime. Punch a hole in the center of the pie pan and thread a large piece of yarn through it to serve as the hanger. Tie the yarn off into a knot to secure. Gather all of the old keys in your home and tie a varying length of string to each one. Punch several holes along the rim of the pie pan and tie the end of each string, one at a time, to each of the holes. Hang in a breezy window or even outdoors.

    Musical Maracas

    • A handful of dried beans are the secret ingredient for crafting a pair of maracas. You need four small rectangular-shaped disposable aluminum pans. Fill two of the pans with ¼ cup of dried beans. Cover each of the pans with another one and glue into place with a hot glue gun to complete. Paint bright and colorful patterns on the outside of the maracas to complete.

    Picture Frame

    • You can make a trendy picture frame out of a disposable aluminum pie pan. Cut the picture to fit in the center of the pie pan and glue into place. Embellish the rim of the pie pan with beads and colorful streamers to complete. Glue a small paper clip onto the back for easy hanging.
