Emergency Contact List for Babysitters
It is not always possible to stay home with your children or take them with you at all times. For these times, babysitters provide you with the freedom to leave while ensuring your children are safe. Consequently, to increase your children's safety with the babysitter, it is important to leave an emergency contact list handy.
-
Family Members
-
In addition to poison control and your local police and fire departments, add you and your partner's phone numbers to the emergency contact list. This should include your cell phone, work phone, or any other additional means of contact. List the contact information of family members underneath your own. Write their names, relation to the child, address and phone number. You should also include their work and cell phone numbers on the list as well. Denote that they are family by highlighting their names in a bright color.
Doctors' Numbers
-
Include the name of all doctors your children see, including dentists and specialists. Next to each doctor, note what the child has seen him for most recently if it is an ongoing medical issue, like asthma. Write the phone number and after-hour contact number of each doctor on the list, in addition to the number of any pharmacies that distribute your child's medication, in case of allergic reaction. Lastly, add your health insurance company and policy number in case your child must go to the hospital while you are out.
-
Neighbors
-
Even if you do not know your neighbors well, note their names and phone numbers on your emergency contact list in the event that the babysitter must evacuate the home to a safe place. List the contact information of at least three to five neighbors your babysitter can turn to for help. Also, provide the addresses of trusted neighbors and descriptions of where they live, such as "last house on the right."
Additional Information
-
List all medication your children take and their medical conditions. Additionally, list any special instructions, like foods to avoid if your children have dietary needs or allergies. Include foods and drinks that may be hazardous to your child's health, like spicy foods, for instance. You may also list your children's bed times on the emergency list for quick reference for the babysitter. Additionally, describe an escape route from the home in case of fire or other disaster.
