A tropical theme can add fun to your business conference.

Hosting a fun and informative business conference can sometimes be challenging. While you want attendees to learn information they can take back to their offices and use, you also don't want the conference to be so boring that attendees lose interest in what is being taught. Add a little fun to your business conference by infusing it with a tropical theme.

  1. Attire

    • Instruct conference guests to wear shirts with tropical prints and tropical patterns, and beach shorts and sandals or flip flops. On the first day of the conference, have the greeter present attendees with a tropical lei to wear around their necks for the duration of the conference.

    Food

    • Welcome guests in the morning with a complimentary continental breakfast that Includes pastries such as banana nut bread and fresh tropical fruits such as melons, grapes, strawberries, pineapples, bananas and kiwi. Include orange and pineapple juices and teas. Host a tropical lunch that includes coconut shrimp, pineapple chicken and a tropical fruit salad. Drinks can include passion fruit teas and juices, and nonalcoholic mai tais, pina coladas and mimosas.

    Decorations

    • Decorate display or information tables with tablecloths containing tropical images such as beaches, palm trees, and oceans. Place seashell centerpieces and grass skirts on tables for an added island effect. Position authentic or silk palm trees around the conference room. During breaks, play tropical music that includes the sound of steel drums.

    Stationery and Favors

    • Insert conference literature in tropical themed folders with pictures of islands, beaches or palm trees and hand them out to attendees. Hand out customized palm tree pens for attendees and a matching notepad to take notes on. Present each attendee with a complimentary customized tropical coffee or tea mug at the end of the conference.
