High alcohol content drinks can be made from wine, beer and liquor. Depending on your personal preference, there are many drink options to choose from that hold a high percentage of alcohol. It’s best to become familiar with the various strengths in your favorite drinks, and always remember to drink responsibly.
The strength in alcohol drinks are often measured by ABV, which stands for alcohol percentages by volume. ABV measures the alcohol volume by ethanol next to the entire contents in which the drink is made up of. This method simply measures the alcohol using percentages.
Absolut vodka has a content of 99 to 100 percent alcohol. There are many high alcohol content mixed drinks that can be made with Absolut liquor. One popular choice includes a Cosmopolitan made with Absolut Citron, orange liqueur, cranberry juice, lime juice and an orange. For those looking for a bit of spice, a Bloody Mary is a great choice, as this drink has a mix of Absolut Peppar, tomato juice, worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, lemon juice and celery.
Alcohol strengths in wine vary and many winemakers are pressured to create intense flavors with a high percentage of alcohol. The ABV in wine ranges from 12.5 to 14.5 percent. Sparkling wine has the lowest alcohol content, while white and red wines have the highest.
The ABV in beer ranges drastically. Some beer has less than 1 percent while others have as much as 20 percent. The brand BrewDog is known to carry one of the highest alcohol content of all brands. It is Scotland’s largest independently owned brewery and they transport their beer internationally
