A quinceanera is a Hispanic coming-of-age party held when a girl turns 15 years old. There's usually music, dancing, formal dresses, full decorations and plenty of food. Table centerpieces for the celebration can range from cheap flower bouquets to expensive balloon sculptures. However, you don't have to spend money to have impressive decorations. Do-it-yourself centerpieces can be as attractive as retail decorations, but they also provide a personal touch to the party.
Tiara Balloon Centerpiece
Make the birthday girl feel like a true princess with a DIY tiara centerpiece on each table. Tie the ribbons from a tiara-shaped balloon and several gold balloons around a medium-size rock to create a balloon bouquet. Place the rock in the middle of a large piece of gold wrapping paper. Pull the paper up and around the rock, like you are making a sack. Bunch the wrapping paper together with the balloon ribbons sticking coming out of the top. Wrap a ribbon around the paper to secure it, and finish it with a big bow.
Pink Rose Centerpiece
Stick to a sweet theme for a quinceanera celebration with pink rose centerpieces. Select a large, tall, clear plastic vase and fill it with layers of pink and white tulle. Arrange a rounded bouquet of pink roses, green ivy and white baby's breath. Slide the bouquet into the vase, keeping the stems in the middle so that only the tulle shows through the vase. Place a centerpiece in the middle of each table and scatter a few pink rose petals around the base.
Floating Candle Centerpiece
Create a quinceanera centerpiece with floating candles to bring out the sparkle in the birthday girl's eyes. Fill the bottom of a clear glass bowl with decorative stones, such as lilac and silver glass stones. Fill the bowl two-thirds full with water. Place several decorative floating candles in the bowl, such as lilac and silver flower candles. Place a bowl on each table and light the candles to make the whole creation twinkle.
Modern Ball Centerpiece
Bring a modern feel to a traditional quinceanera celebration with the help of round ornaments and sparkling tinsel. Fill the bottom of a large, angular, clear glass vase with metallic silver tinsel. Add assorted pearly white, metallic pink and metallic gold ornaments to the vase, sprinkling a little tinsel as you go. Place the centerpiece in the middle of the table and sprinkle a little tinsel around the vase.
Colorful Candy Centerpiece
Use candy to create a quinceanera centerpiece that's both colorful and a crowd-pleaser. Select two thin, cylindrical, clear glass vases--one tall and one short--to start each centerpiece. Fill each vase with alternating layers of candy, such as candy-coated chocolate mints and brightly-colored gumballs. Arrange large lollipops in a bouquet shape and slide a bouquet into each tall vase. Place a tall vase and a short vase in the middle of each table.
