Several PowerPoint training courses are available on the Microsoft website. As of March 2011, the tutorials center on learning to create a PowerPoint presentation, understanding the difference between PowerPoint 2010 and earlier versions and protecting your files. The courses range in length from 10 minutes for the security tutorial to about 50 minutes more detailed lessons. Each of the video courses includes practice sessions and a multiple choice test with immediate assessment. Since the video tutorials run on Microsoft Silverlight, this program must be downloaded and installed before starting the courses.

Lynda.com specializes in online software training with close to 1,000 courses and almost 60,000 tutorials available as of March, 2011. The site is membership based, though 10 percent of the courses are free. Paying the monthly or annual fee allows you access to all lynda.com training materials. Training courses can be repeated as often as you remain a member. Lynda.com lists four PowerPoint 2010 courses in March 2011. The most robust course, PowerPoint: Essential Training, is estimated to take about four hours to complete. A few free sample segments are available for your perusal.

Apex Web Media has a library of over 600 titles, available on a monthly subscription basis. Another alternative is purchasing a CD. Apex has about 600 of their titles available in the CD format. The PowerPoint lessons have a duration of about 9 hours and consist of 114 detailed videos. Apex guarantees that if at any time during your subscription period you find a course with more content for less money, you will be refunded the entire fee.
InfiniteSkills

InfiniteSkills uses a pay per course model. Each course in their library can be purchased on DVD or for web delivery for a flat fee. The PowerPoint 2010 course consists of 152 very detailed lessons divided into 23 chapters. InfiniteSkills estimates that the course will last about 10.5 hours. The free demo lessons can be viewed on the web or on an iPhone or iPad.
