Props in a photograph can create a setting and mood of the subject. Props can also tell a lot about a person and their their personality. Choosing the right props for a photo will depend on the person, and the reason for taking the photo. If a special occasion is being remembered through photography props, the goal is for viewers to understand the occasion without being told what it is.

If multiple people are being photographed in the same picture, seating will provide help with height differences.
