Choose appropriate gifts to give your students.

It's common for students to give their teachers gifts, but teachers might want to return the favor every once in a while. For example, teachers often present students with gifts on special occasions, such as the holidays or graduation. You don't have to spend a lot of money to choose meaningful gifts for your students that will make them feel special.

  1. School Supplies

    • Consider giving your students school supplies as an appropriate gift. If you are shopping for younger children, choose a selection of erasers and pencils with creative designs on them. When looking for gifts for older students, consider giving them calculators, dictionaries or thesauruses. Classic fictional books are another good idea for student gifts from teachers.

    Modeling Clay

    • Modeling clay is a good option for a group of younger students. Make the clay yourself and use food coloring to dye it if you are on a very restricted budget. If you can spend a bit more, simply buy modeling clay in bulk. Give each child a ball of clay in a plastic bag and attach a miniature rolling pin or a cookie cutter to the ribbon that ties the bag closed.

    Edible

    • Making gifts yourself is always a good option when you need to save money. Consider baking cookies or brownies for your students. Keep in mind any food allergies your students might have, such as nut or gluten allergies. Bake the sweets and place them in decorative plastic bags or a tins. Attach a heartfelt note to the ribbons you tie onto the gifts.

    Classroom Coupon

    • Sometimes you can give your students a gift that doesn't actually cost you anything. Consider giving them classroom coupons that are good toward different types of things in your class. Make the coupons simply using construction paper and markers. For example, one coupon could be good toward 10 extra minutes in your classroom's reading station, while another coupon might be used to redeem an extra point on a test.
