Homemade Sorority Gifts
Sororities and fraternities make up colleges' Greek systems throughout the country. Giving a sorority sister a gift themed around her organization is a thoughtful way to support her academic and social interests. Sorority gifts do not need to be expensive. You can use simple craft materials to create presents themed around a specific sorority.

Painted Wood Letters
-
Some craft supply companies sell wooden Greek letters to be decorated. Pick out your sorority's letters. Paint them using your sorority's color scheme if it has one. Alternatively, use your college's colors or the recipient's favorite colors. You can add adhesive rhinestones, stickers, felt shapes or other ornaments. Customize the letters with themes within your sorority or with some of the recipient's favorite things.
Decorated Paddles
-
Wooden paddles are a popular item within the Greek system. Stores specializing in college life and Greek gear carry unpainted paddles. Paint a paddle using the color scheme of your sorority or college. Paint on your sorority's letters or use adhesives to add the letters. Add on any other decorations that reference your college or organization. Alternatively, flower decorations are an appropriate addition to a homemade present for a female.

Centerpieces
-
Create a decorative centerpiece using themes from your sorority. Use a candle with a large candle holder. Add ribbons, flowers, rhinestones and any other decorations to the candle holder, away from where the flame will be if the candle is ever burned. Cut out felt, paper or vinyl in the shapes of your sorority's letters to stick to the candle holder. Centerpieces can decorate shelves, desks or even tables at events.
Applique Bags
-
Cut out fabric in the shape of your sorority's letters. Use a plain tote bag or make your own. Sew the letters in place on the tote bag, either directly in the middle or artfully to one side. You do not have to be very skilled in applique to sew the letters on. If you cannot sew the letters on so that there are not loose ends, sew them flat onto the bag body with the seam 1/4 inch or more in from the edge. The ends will be loose, but they will create a bohemian, frayed look.
