If you are considering buying a Bowflex exercise machine, you want to ensure that it will fit in your allotted space. A Bowflex combines many individual exercises into one machine, so you do not have to set up a mini health club in your basement, yet this machine will require some floor space. The dimensions of a machine are not enough to look at when making your choice, you also have to view the space needed for the power rods to bend.
The classic Bowflex home workout system is 6 feet 10 inches tall. The Bowflex Revolution measure 6 feet 1 inch tall. The Bowflex Ultimate 2 is 6 feet 10 inches tall and requires a minimum ceiling height of 7 feet 4 inches for assembly. The Bowflex Extreme 2 is the largest of the machines at 6 feet 11 inches tall.
The Bowflex Revolution is the most expensive system and requires the most floor space at 10 feet by 7 inches, even though the actual dimensions of the machine are 9 feet by 5 inches. You will need at least an inch of clearance space on both sides of the Revolution for movement safety since this machine does not use the power rod technology. The other Bowflex systems use power rods that bend out to the sides as you complete the exercises. The space needed to allow for the bending power rod is included in the width requirements of the machines. The Bowflex Ultimate 2 requires 9 feet 4 inches by 6 feet 6 inches of workout space. You will need an 8 foot 4 inch by 6 foot 6 inch are in which to safely use the Bowflex Classic system. The Bowflex Extreme 2 requires the least amount of floor space at 8 feet by 6 feet 5 inches.
The width of the bench should support the width of your body. The Bowflex Revolution has the smallest bench width at 3 feet 2 inches. The Bowflex Classic's bench measures 3 feet 5 inches wide. The Bowflex Ultimate 2 has a bench that is 3 feet 10 inches wide. The Bowflex Extreme 2's bench is 4 feet 1 inch wide.
You cannot fold the Bowflex Extreme 2 for storage, but the other three fold up to open up your room. When folded for storage, your Bowflex Classic measures 2 feet 6 inches by 2 feet 2 inches by 6 feet 10 inches. The Bowflex Revolution folds to 4 feet 7 inches by 3 feet 2 inches by 6 feet 1 inch. The Bowflex Ultimate 2 can be stored in a 3 foot 8 inch by 3 foot 10 inch by 6 foot 10 inch space.
