Approaching holiday dog photos with humor can have great results.

Our pets play a bigger role in our households than ever. Our dogs are often included in holiday celebrations and photographs are taken to record them. Photographs can be elevated from snapshots to posed photos in more elaborate holiday settings. Creating these dog holiday photos can be the source of a lot of fun.

  1. Halloween

    • Halloween offers an opportunity to photograph your dog in settings that are humorous. Pumpkins provide a great prop. Hollowing out a pumpkin and having a small dog sit inside it makes a funny photograph. A row of jack-o-lanterns with the dog sitting at the end is another photo option. A pile of colorful pumpkins with your dog sitting in the middle or on the top makes a nice shote. Of course, it always fun having the dog dressed in a Halloween costume. There are many to choose from for dogs on the retail market.

    Christmas

    • Dogs are a big part of the Christmas celebration in pet households. The owners will go to great effort to get the cutest photos of their dogs possible. If you have a small dog or puppy, photographing it inside of a Christmas stocking is an opportunity to get that perfect shot. Other ideas would be having the dog chewing on Santa's boot or hat or sitting on Santa's lap. Putting a wool scarf around your dog's neck and sitting your dog on a sled in the snow would be a great photo as would having a small dog popping its head out of a wrapped gift box

    Easter

    • Easter brings thoughts of baskets, eggs and spring flowers. Consider a photo of your dog sitting in a grass-filled basket. Pots of tulips, hyacinths and daffodils make a colorful background for your dog to sit in front of. Another pose could be with having your dog sit next to colored plastic eggs, some of which can be open with treats spilling out of them. Props such as plush toy bunnies and chick or ducklings could be included with the dogs.

    Thanksgiving

    • Images of Thanksgiving include autumn leaves, gourds, cornucopias, pilgrims and turkeys. For a nice photograph try piling colorful leaves together and having the dog sit in the middle of them. An unusual shot would be of a small dog or a puppy sleeping in a cornucopia, placing gourds around it to add color. Having your dog licking an empty turkey platter or chewing on a pilgrim's hat would make humorous shots.
