Heating, ventilating, and air conditioning technicians need accurate calculations when determining the size air conditioner or heating unit that you need. While you can manually do these calculations, you can also use software programs to help you with this process, especially if you're a do-it-yourselfer. QwickLoad offers two tools: one for professionals and one for homeowners. Students and teachers can also use these programs as teaching tools. Both of these tools are available with English or metric system units of measure. The QwickLoad Residential 4.0 helps you calculate both heat gain and heat loss. You simply input your measurements. If you don't know the measurement for a particular field, the program fills that field with a default unit. QwickLoad Commercial 7.0 is for large to medium-sized building load calculations. This program comes with a duct-sizing tool to help you figure out the size ducts that you need. As of 2011, the commercial version costs $169, and the residential version costs $49.
