Goodnites have the same basic materials as other disposable diapers.

Perhaps your child is having a hard time with bedwetting and they are too big for conventional diapers. You may have considered using Goodnites, but are curious as to what they are made from. Goodnites use the same conventional materials as disposable diapers, but in a discreet design that will set older children at ease.

  1. Style

    • Goodnites have a different sort of shape than regular disposable diapers in order to save older children from the embarrassment of wearing a full diaper that may show through their clothes. Designed to mimic underwear for both boys and girls, Goodnites have a compressed absorbent center to absorb any accidents that happen in the night. Girls' Goodnites are designed to look like panties and are usually trimmed in pink and light blue, sometimes with favorite characters. Boys' Goodnites look like Y-front underwear and feature boys favorite cartoon characters as well.

    Absorbent Materials

    • Sodium polycrylate is the main component of Goodnites. This is an absorbent crystal that draws the liquid into itself and traps it in much the same manner clay kitty litter traps moisture. These crystals are made in a vacuum to make them even more absorbent and compact. Sodium polycrylate has many commercial uses, amongst them making fireproof objects since sodium polycrylate is both non-toxic and inflammable. These crystals allow the Goodnites to absorb more than 15 times their weight in water. Sometimes sodium polycrylate is also blended with potassium acrylate.

    Other Components

    • Goodnites include the absorbent pad and a non-woven fabric to hold it into place in the shape of underwear. Non-woven fabrics differ from traditional cloth and material as they are not made of interlocking strands but instead are made from plastic resin including nylon, polyester, plyethylene or polypropylene. They are formed by blowing tiny holes through the melted polymer and sealing the material together with heat. Elastic fibers are stretched out and attached to the outer edges of the garment to make it adhere to the body.

    Sizes

    • Goodnites come in various sizes for your children. Size Small to Medium fits children who weigh between 38 and 65 pounds, and Large to Extra Large for children 60 to 125 pounds. Boxers for young boys come in sizes Small to Medium for kids 38 to 65 pounds, and Large to Extra Large for children over 60 pounds.
