Halloween Clothes for Dogs
Each year at Halloween, dog owners have the opportunity not only to dress themselves up, but also to dress their canines in costumes. These costumes can accentuate your own outfit, or stand on their own as interesting conversation pieces. However, though dog owners have many options, it can be hard to think of ideas for your dog's outfit; consider the breed and size when deciding on the best Halloween clothes for your pooch.

Human Tie-In
-
One humorous costume idea for dogs is to dress them as your sidekick, making the two of you together into a famous couple -- even if that couple is human. To play on the dog's role as sidekick, you can choose to dress as famous human/dog couples, such as Dorothy and Toto from "The Wizard of Oz." Similarly, you can make the dog into one half of a human couple: Sonny and Cher, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt or another famous pair with easily recognizable traits.
Famous People
-
If you aren't dressing up for Halloween, or you want your dog to have clothes that work as a standalone costume, consider dressing your dog as a famous person. People who are often in the news or who are immediately recognizable, such as Lady Gaga, work well. Whoever you pick, make sure that she has identifiable traits -- such as Lady Gaga's blonde pageboy haircut or offbeat costumes -- that you can transfer to your dog's clothing; this way, you won't constantly have to explain the costume.

Famous Dogs
-
Famous dogs also make an interesting and easy costume ideas for Halloween. Examples of dogs that could work include real dogs, such as Lassie, and fictional dogs -- Snoopy or Underdog, for example. This will work best if your dog is already the same breed as the famous dog, though by dressing him up in a costume -- putting a Dalmatian coat on a Yorkshire terrier -- you can take a humorous approach that also works well.
Ironic Costumes
-
Consider dressing your dog in a costume that pokes fun at the fact that you are dressing up your dog for Halloween. Examples of such costumes include those that dress your dog as another animal: for example, a bunny rabbit (using a fluffy tail and ears) or a cat, which can also work well as a tie-in to your costume, particularly if you are dressing as a witch.
