Ontario Music Grants
Ontario musicians have a number of organizations that can offer them financial assistance. The Ontario Arts Council (OAC) offers more than 50 funding programs for artists and arts organizations based in Ontario. Funding comes from the Ontario government and is available to professional artists, groups or collectives, and organizations that produce work or actively take the work of professional artists to Ontario communities. The OAC supports a variety of music genres of music through its grants.

Operating Program Grants
-
The OAC offers operating program grants. These grants are for ongoing support for arts organizations' operating expenses and are available on an annual or multi-year basis. Operating grants are available to choirs and vocal groups, professional and semi-professional opera or music theater companies, professional and semi-professional orchestras, and nonprofit presenters or producers involved in live music of any type in a festival or series format. To be eligible, opera or music theater companies and orchestras must have achieved at least two years of sustained programming.
Project Program Grants
-
OAC project program grants support the professional artistic costs of choirs and vocal groups. These groups must be incorporated nonprofit entities or artist collectives. For orchestras and music theater, project grants support a range of activities, from fully staged productions to the development of new works.
Project grants also help support the professional artistic cost of orchestras that don't receive operating support. These grants also support the presentation and production of single concerts, series and festivals by nonprofit organizations or artist, ensembles or bands. This can include the development of the repertoire for the live performance.
