Hutchins Air Tools

The Hutchins Manufacturing Company produces air sanders and accessories for home, commercial and industrial use. Hutchins creates sanders that you could use in either dry or wet applications. As of 2011, Hutchins has been producing these tools for more than 50 years..

  1. Marine

    • A marine sander is specifically for working on boats and marine equipment. Hutchins offers both straight-line and orbital marine sanders. The Water Bug series is for wet applications, including sanding down the sides of boats. Models 2001-11, 2001-12 and 4921-11 provide a lot of torque at low speed, and a shaving removal action.

    Woodworking

    • All Hutchins woodworking models are straight-line sanders. The models in this group included the 2000-4H, 2025 and 2025H. These models used a 4.5 x 9-inch pad. You could cut standard-size sandpaper to fit this pad, connecting the sandpaper to the pad using Velcro.

    Wet Sander

    • The wet sander series includes all sanders that you can use either wet or dry. This series is made up of orbital sanders; it includes all the Water Bug models: 7004, 7044-6, 7544 and 7545. The 7044 and 7444-6 models are rectangular, but they still move in an orbital pattern. The 7544 and 7545 models are random orbital sanders. You can use these sanders for the automotive, airplane and marine industries.

    Vacuum-assist

    • Vacuum-assist sanders have a vacuum that catches any dust and debris produced by the sanding work. Nine models of vacuum-assist sanders were offered by Hutchins in 2007, including standard orbital, random orbital, straight-line, and high torque, low-speed sanders.

    Hustler

    • The Hustler series of straight-line sanders includes the 2011 model. This model comes with a two-cylinder, twin-drive gear system; it had a triple-counter balance system to keep the tool stable in use. It comes with an 11-inch pad. An 11-inch pad will work with 2.75-inch abrasive sanding rolls. You can use this tool for fine-sanding work.
