Keeping your hands looking supple, young and fair can be easy. There are a plethora of homemade recipes, treatments and moisturizers to help you keep your hands looking vibrant. We all get busy, but creating a hand and nail regiment for yourself is simple, and once you start is not time consuming to maintain. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Protect Your Hands

    • Protect your hands by wearing gloves while washing dishes, gardening and performing housework or yard work. This prevents hands from aging in the sun or bruising. Wearing an SPF can also prevent sun damage while outdoors.

    Manicure

    • Give your hands a weekly manicure to keep them fair. File your nails in one direction to keep them from tearing. Massage a cuticle cream into your nail beds to soften cuticles and gently push back. Polish your nails; use a base coat to prevent discoloration, then polish with a clear coat or your favorite color. A drop of lemon oil and water can help remove discoloration, if needed.

    Moisturize

    • When your hands come in contact with water or cold, harsh climate conditions you should moisturize. A simple hand lotion can be purchased over the counter at your local pharmacy or drug store. Look for one free of irritants and made for hands. Creams are good to use after you have done a dirty job like the dishes, as they protect and heal. Make your own by mixing 1/3 cup glycerin and 2/3 cups rosewater in a bottle. Shake then apply regularly by massaging into hands. Store your rose petal hand cream in a cool, dry place.

    Night Treatment

    • After a long day's work, give yourself a nightly treatment. Once a week use your night time face cream to rub on hands for added anti-aging. Afterward, put on a pair of cotton gloves; sleep in to seal moisture overnight.

    Hand Treatment

    • Give your hands a little treatment at home. Soak for 10 minutes in warm water mixed with one teaspoon of almond oil. Mix sea salt and lemon juice, then brush on hands and rub gently to remove dead skin cells. Wash hands with warm water. Mix one teaspoon honey and one teaspoon olive oil. Apply to hands then place hands in small plastic bags and then in a pair of cotton mittens for 30 minutes. Remove the mittens and discard bags. Slightly warm a glass of milk and soak your hands for five minutes. The calcium strengthens nails and moisturizes hands.
