Homemade Country Christmas Crafts
Country-style decor is warm and welcoming, an ideal vibe for the Christmas season. If you're looking for ways to bring a touch of country charm to your home during Christmas time, or you are seeking a one-of-a-kind gift idea, consider creating your own homemade country crafts for the holiday season.
-
Patchwork Place Mats
-
Make patchwork place mats in Christmas colors. Select two or three Christmas colored fabrics -- green and red, for example. Decide how large you want to make your place mats and cut the fabric into squares to fit the size place mat you want to create. Sew the squares together with simple stitches and use the finished place mats to add a bit of country charm to your Christmas dining table.
Rustic Luminary
-
Create a rustic Christmas-themed luminary from a tin can. Clean and remove the labels from a tin can, fill it with water and freeze it. On a piece of paper, draw an image that relates to the holiday, such as a Christmas tree or a star. Tape the paper to the can and use a hammer and nail to transfer the image to the can. Remove the ice from inside the can and place a tea light in the center of it. The light from the candle will shine through the image and out of the top of the can, creating a warm glow.

Fabric Christmas Ornaments
-
Use fabric remnants to create a homespun country Christmas tree ornament. Cut fabric into strips and wrap them around a foam craft ball, using hot glue to hold the pieces in place. When the ball is completely wrapped, string a piece of fabric through one of the strips that are already on the ball and tie the end into a knot, creating a loop to hold the ornament on your tree.
Potpourri Jar
-
Fill your house with the scent of pine with this country Christmas craft. Clean out and remove any labels from a mason jar. Gather a collection of pine needles and pine cones from outside, or purchase a pine scented potpourri kit from a home supply store. Place the pine needles and pine cones or the potpourri inside the jar. Cut a piece of lace fabric and drape it over the top of the jar. Secure the lace in place by wrapping a piece of green or red ribbon around the top of the jar. If you'd like, tie a sprig of pine needles or a pine cone to the ribbon as well.
