Traditional Family Activities
Enjoy quality time with your family by planning regular family activities. For thousands of years, families have been spending their time with one another by participating in activities together. You don't have to come up with new ways to entertain your spouse and kids to find activities that you can do as a family. Traditional family activities are still as interesting today as they were in the past.

Picnics
-
Picnicking has been an American tradition for many years and can be traced back to England as early as the 14th century. A picnic is a great activity for the entire family, especially during the summer, and can be experienced with extended family members including your aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins and friends. Most picnics are usually planned so that it's a potluck, and everyone can bring their favorite food. Picnics allow families to get together not only to share a meal but to play games such as frisbee or relax by a lake.
Movies
-
Families have enjoyed watching movies in theaters since the early 1900s. Much has changed since then, but it's a family tradition that's still enjoyed today. Watching a movie is an activity that the entire family can do together. It's not often that families are able to experience the same things at once, and movies allow you to do just that. Families can watch movies in a movie theater or in a drive-in while enjoying snacks such as popcorn and candy. Movies can spark conversations and everyone can share their thoughts and feelings about the film.

Bowling
-
The first indoor bowling alleys were built in New York City in 1840 and started out as a place for gambling. Today, however, going bowling is a family pastime. Bowling alleys where adults and children can bowl are found all over the United States. Bowling provides families with hours of fun and most have food and drinks available. Some bowling alleys even have smaller-sized bowling balls for children. You'll find traditional bowling alleys and even cosmic bowling, or glow-in-the-dark bowling lanes.
Outdoor Recreation
-
The history of outdoor recreation in North America can be traced to the tribes living here before the arrival of the first Europeans. Many different outdoor activities have emerged since then but many, such as canoeing, fishing and hunting, are still enjoyed today. Families enjoy outdoor activities either for leisure or exercise. Depending on your family's interests, you might enjoy going swimming in a lake or pool or biking or going for walks on trails.
