Anniversary Traditions & Gifts
The wedding anniversary is a time when couples celebrate their love and commitment to each other. If you are the classic romantic type, and just can't find something extra-creative to do for your spouse, try practicing some of the anniversary traditions that have been used over the years.

Traditional Gifts by Year
-
Remember to get a gift for your spouse, and try something traditional. If you are ultra-traditional, try giving traditional gifts based on years of marriage. For example, the gift for the first year of marriage is paper, the 10th is a gift made of tin or aluminum, the 15th year is crystal and 50th is gold. This will keep you from becoming overwhelmed by the many options you might have by narrowing down the type of gift you are looking for.
Remember the Big Day
-
Review your wedding pictures together, remembering the big day. Set aside some time to flip through your wedding album on your anniversary day. If your anniversary was filmed, watch the video or DVD together. Reminisce about the day of your commitment, laughing at the funny moments and sighing at the sentimental ones. Talk to each other about how you were feeling that day or what you were thinking while standing at the altar.

Romantic Dinner
-
Have a romantic anniversary dinner. Go out for a romantic dinner for two or have a candlelit picnic by the lake. This is a great time to re-connect away from your children or your heavy work schedules. Talk about the year that you have just gone through together and how you have grown as a couple. Keep things positive as this is a time of celebration for you both.
Flowers
-
Passionate red roses are a traditional anniversary gift. Flowers are always a romantic gift on your anniversary day and have been a long-lasting tradition. Give her some passionate red roses or, if she is the more fun-loving type, consider some bright and colorful gerber daisies. Send them to her at work and impress her co-workers or surprise her and pull them out from behind your back when you arrive home for the day.
