A variety of tattoos can be translated into bracelets.

There are many type and styles of tattoos and many can easily translate into a bracelet. First, you should determine the meaning of the tattoo, whether it will be a personal reflection of yourself or a memorial honoring someone else. Then, you can decide on one of multiple possibilities that can be scaled down and designed to fit around your wrist or ankle. As with any tattoo, you should take time to consider every detail before application. Traditional tattoos are done in black and gray, but you can choose to add color, depending on preference.

  1. Rosary Beeds

    • Rosary beads can be a meaningful tattoo to anyone who celebrates a particular religion. Generally, they are depicted with a crucifix at the head, dipping down towards the outer hand or palm, but those who follow other religions can easily changed the crucifix to another symbol that denotes their faith, such as a star of David or a small Buddha. You can also choose to have the beads appear wrapped several times around your wrist, as is common with real-life rosary beads.

    Birth Stone

    • Every month of the year is attributed its own particular birth stone, such as a diamond or sapphire. You can have the image of this stone tattooed to either the under or over portion of your wrist, then have a chain or small rope tattooed that wraps around and connects to either side of the stone. The chain or rope can be done in traditional black and gray, if you wish, but the stone should be done in color to portray its vibrant qualities.

    Script

    • Script tattoos come in a variety of fonts and styles, or you can design your own. The script can be a advisory phrase, either generic or personally given by a loved one, or a a string of initials or names. When choosing your script style, keep in mind that extravagant fonts can have a high amount of detail and will require more surface skin to display adequately. You can also choose to add numeric script along with the initials or names to signify birth and other important dates, if going with a memorial theme.

    Lord of the Rings

    • Extreme fans of the J.R.R. Tolkien Lord of the Ring series can pay the ultimate homage to the story by tattooing the ring's Mordorian script and phrase around their wrist, ankle or bicep. You can find the actual script in the first novel, "Fellowship of the Ring" or online. Flames can be added to signify the heat needed to expose the forbidden writing or it can be simply represented on its own. The tattoo will be recognized and appreciated by other fans or just be regarded as a tribal font to those who aren't.
