Kid Games that are Safari Based
The word "safari" comes from Swahili, meaning "journey" or "expedition." It often refers to a trip into the African wilderness to see some of the rare wildlife living there. For those who can't make it to the Serengeti desert, there are some games you can play online based on the idea of a safari, and it's an appealing idea to kids interested in animals.

Photo Safari
-
One of the purposes of a safari is to take photos of the wildlife, and this PBS Kids game kicks off with just that. After you pick an animal friend, your mouse cursor turns into a camera viewfinder and animals run across the screen. Your goal is to take as many photos of different animals as you can, and you have a limited amount of film. After taking all of the photos, the user can flip through a photo album and print out and color them.
Brain Safari
-
A lot of games designed for kids are also educational. "Brain Safari" tests the player's knowledge of animals. In the Flash Arcade version, the player is offered math or memory questions represented by animals. For example, a cartoon matching game will quickly show a panda and a giraffe in bamboo frames. One goes away, then appears again besides two other animal images. The player has to pick which of the three was shown first before a buzzer goes off.

Pokémon Snap
-
"Pokemon Snap" is set on a Pokemon island with the player as a photographer. The game is an "on-rails" shooter. This means that instead of focusing on moving a character and "shooting" photographs, you are only focused on where the camera's pointing while a car brings you on your Pokemon safari. You get a better score for unique photos, and you unlock new tools that help you get these critters into new and more exciting positions. The game is available through Nintendo's "Wii Shop."
Endless Ocean
-
Not all safaris take place on land. In "Endless Ocean," you're a diver swimming through the ocean and exploring it, while taking photos of fish, whales, and other sea life. You have complete freedom to dive anywhere in the ocean, but certain fish like certain places more than others. Between dives, you can return to your boat, look at your photos and collect new tools. It's a peaceful and non-violent game rated E for everyone.
