On February 14th, couples throughout the U.S. enjoy each other's company at romantic restaurants for Valentine's Day. Washington, D.C., has many restaurants with Valentine's Day specials, many of which are four- or five-course meals with a choice of appetizers, entrees and desserts. Many Valentine's Day menus also include the "amuse bouche" course, a mini-appetizer or bite-sized hors d'oeuvre that precedes the appetizer.

  1. 701 Restaurant

    • The 701 Restaurant, in the heart of downtown D.C., on the grounds of the U.S. Navy Memorial Park, offers a four-course Valentine's Day dinner that includes an amuse bouche, appetizer, entree and dessert. The meal begins with a Taylor Bay scallop crudo. Appetizer options include chanterelle mushroom tart and rockfish tartare, while entree choices include roasted pheasant and red snapper. The dessert menu includes almond macaroons and chocolate truffle cake. The restaurant offers valet parking and live jazz music on Valentine's Day evening.

    Art and Soul

    • Located on the eastern edge of downtown D.C., the Art and Soul Restaurant provides a five-course Valentine's Day dinner featuring an amuse bouche, first and second courses, entree and dessert. The meal begins with a duck filet with foie gras and truffle. First and second course choices include arugula salad, creamy parsnip soup, lobster risotto and wild mushroom fritter, while entree options include confit chicken and roast lamb rack. The dessert menu includes grapefruit semifreddo and chocolate duet. The Valentine's Day special also includes a "takeaway" of two red velvet cakes.

    Bangkok Joe's

    • Bangkok Joe's is an Asian fusion restaurant in D.C.'s trendy Georgetown area within five minutes of Georgetown Waterfront Park on the Potomac River. According to Georgetown Life, it offers Valentine's Day diners three entree choices, Peking duck, drunken steak and crispy whole flounder, which are also available on the weekends preceding Valentine's Day. Bangkok Joe's also participates in the "Love Potions of Georgetown" event by offering two cocktails for $14 on Valentine's Day.

    Bistro La Bonne

    • D.C.'s Bistro La Bonne is a French-influenced restaurant in the heart of the U Street Corridor district, about five minutes north of Logan Circle Park. This restaurant features a neighborhood-style setting and upbeat atmosphere. During Valentine's Day, La Bonne serves a four-course meal with an amuse bouche, appetizer, entree and dessert. Appetizers include lobster consomme and seared scallops, and entrees include surf and turf, lamb loin and salmon filet. Valentine's chocolate truffle cake is served for dessert. The restaurant also provides those who order the four-course special with a courtesy bottle of champagne.
