Norwalk Community College (NCC) was originally founded as a municipal college in 1961, then later merged with Norwalk State Technical College. NCC was the first public, two-year college in the state of Connecticut and now enrolls approximately 6,500 students, as of 2010. In the 2007-2008 academic year, the college enrolled a total of 2,903 students in credit courses and 2,672 students in credit-free programs. QVCC offers a medical assisting program, which results in an associate of science degree and includes medical transcription as part of its program's core classes.
