Leaf blowers take the muscle out of raking leaves.

Leaf blowers have more uses than just blowing leaves. Landscapers and homeowners have found a number of handy ways to make leaf blowers pay for themselves, such as drying cars. The minimal expense of fuel, oil, and routine maintenance hardly compare to the time-saving utility of this air-blowing device. Endless possibilities exist as to what you can do with it. Leaf blowers aren't for everyone, but once you discover their usefulness, you can turn them loose on projects you might not have imagined otherwise. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Blowing Leaves

    • Instead of spending time raking leaves into several piles across the lawn, blow leaves into one big pile. This is a great way to gather leaves for children to play in. After the kids have had their fun and the leaves have been spread out, blow them back into a pile. Use the blower to blow leaves out of those hard-to-reach areas between shrubs, flower beds, and garden plots. Use a ladder to climb up and blow leaves out of your gutters or off of your roof.

    Blowing Dust

    • Put on a dust mask and blow the dust out of the garage and window wells. Blow the dust off your cars before you wash them. Use the blower to dry your car after you hand wash it. Blow drying a washed car minimizes water spots. You can use your blower to blow dust and spiderwebs out of the corners of your windows and home.

    Blowing Grass

    • Mow your lawn and after you've finished, take the leaf blower and blow the grass off of unwanted surfaces. Blow the clippings off of the sidewalks, the patio, and the driveway. Blow them back onto the grass or into a pile for easy pickup. Blow the dust, pollen, and dried grass clippings off of your lawnmower.

    Blowing Snow

    • Blow a light, powdery snow off of your sidewalks and driveway to minimize the amount of shoveling you have to do. Blow snow off of the windows of your car. Blowing snow works only when the snow isn't a heavy, wet snow.
