Reasons to Remove a Child From Day Care
Day care can help your child grow socially, nurture your child's emotional and mental development and assist in increasing his intellectual capacity. Characteristics of a quality day care include qualified teachers, enriching activities, an involved staff and a safe environment. There are several factors that may result in you having to remove your child from day care. For example, if a low-quality day care is causing your child to regress emotionally, mentally and physically, then keeping your child at a particular day care may not be an option.

If the lessons are boring then the child will associate learning with boredom. A curriculum that does not challenge and expose your child to a variety of experiences is detrimental to your child's intellectual development. A quality curriculum at a day care guides a child through valuable lessons while enabling him to maintain his creativity. A curriculum that is too repetitive, stifling or boring hurts your child's chances for academic success in the future. Teachers who are not adequately qualified deprive your child of deep learning experiences. They may not cater the lessons properly to fit the age group, have the necessary knowledge about the stages of child development or apply diverse activities in the classroom.

If your child is the target of consistent bullying from peers at the day care then you may have to remove your child from that day care. Bullying diminishes the social benefits of day care and stunts the emotional and mental growth of your child. If your child begins adopting poor social habits, such as biting or fighting in defense, then another day care may be better-suited to your child. If the teacher is not able to effectively management the classroom, the disorder could be too stressful for your child. Emotional and mental abuse -- in the form of insults, harsh directions and neglect from the teacher -- is another reason to remove your child from day care.

A day care should have the tools to alleviate minor injuries. A day care with hazardous areas -- such as fall zones and harmful chemicals within reach -- would be too dangerous for your child. If the day care has instances of frequent injuries, abuse and parent dissatisfaction, then it would be best to remove your child. Inspect the safety of the day care by evaluating the design of the playground, reviewing the emergency plans and inquiring about first aid. Day care centers that consistently serve unhealthy food will stunt the growth of your child during the important stages of her physical development. Vitamin deficiencies and the effects of unhealthy food can make a negative impact on your child that lasts of a lifetime.

Being the primary instructor can have many benefits. Some parents may want to take their child's education and growth into their own hands. Parents can give one-on-one attention to their child and have maximum control over the curriculum, meals and exposure to experiences. You may want to pay special attention to your child if he is struggling with making important milestones. If believe that your child needs more quality time with you for his optimal progress and happiness then removing him from day care may be the best decision.
