Ideas for Cheap Room Dividers
Finding solutions to separate spaces in a room doesn't have to be expensive. Instead of buying a pricey room divider, you can create your own for much cheaper. With a little imagination, you can create something from materials already found in your home. The other materials that you'll need can cost you less than $50. Does this Spark an idea?

Beaded Curtain
-
Using beads is one of the cheapest ways to create a room divider. Use beads that you may already have or purchase beads from a craft or bead store. The only other materials you'll need are transparent nylon wire, or fishing wire, and ceiling hooks. String as many beads as you'll need to cover the space you want to divide using the nylon wire. You can use one color of beads or different colors and kinds of beads. Screw the S-hooks to the ceiling and tie a string of beads on each hook. Hooks cost as little as $1 each, a pack of plastic beads can cost about $5 and 250 yards of fishing line costs as little as $5.
Rolling Garment Rack
-
A rolling garment rack is used to hang clothes and sometimes they're made with a shelf for holding shoes. Purchase enough fabric to cover the length that you need and hang it on the rack so it reaches all the way to the bottom. The fabric can be attached to the sides and top of the rack using a hook-and-loop fastener or double-sided tape. You might need two or three racks to cover the length of a room, but each rack costs as little as $20, and you can buy a yard of fabric for $10 or less depending on the material.

Drapes
-
Hanging drapes from your ceiling is one way of creating a cheap room divider. You'll need fabric of your choice and a ceiling-mounted traverse rod, or universal track rod. You'll find traverse rods that extend from 38 feet to 66 feet or longer. Additionally, curved traverse rods are also available. Once you've chosen a fabric and have it cut to size, you can attach the fabric to the traverse rod using pin hooks, which usually come with the rod. The rod is then attached to the ceiling using screws, which also come with the rod. A traverse rod costs as little as $25.
Clothes Dryer Rack
-
A folding clothes dryer rack is an interesting way to divide a room because of the ways that you can use it. You can hang an entire piece of fabric over the rack or hang several pieces of fabric over each rod. If you choose to hang pieces of fabric on each rod, you can create an interesting visual by hanging fabric of different colors or prints. A clothes dryer rack made of steel can cost as little as $20, and one made of wood can cost as little as $10.
