Activities for Classmates
Activities among classmates can be helpful and fun. If there is some down time in class or the teacher needs a break, a variety of activities can be performed that can be educational and keep the class busy at the same time. Whatever subjects are being taught can be incorporated in the activities.

Testing Classmates
-
An activity that would be helpful for all students is to test each other. Pair the students off and have them prepare a sample test for their partner. They have to come up with the questions and know the answers to score the other person. Each takes the other's test. This allows them to teach each other what they know by correcting wrong answers.
Games
-
Games can make any classroom more fun and can be a good activity as well. For example, you can play "Math Baseball." Divide the class into two teams and draw a baseball diamond on the board. The first team "pitches" a question to a "batter" on the other team. If the batter gets it right, he advances to first base. It is played until the team gets three outs and then the other team gets a chance at bat.

Spelling Bee Teams
-
Two teams of students will compete in a spelling bee. Each person comes up with a word for an opposing member on the team. One person on each team can be designated as the spell checker by using a dictionary. When someone spells a word wrong, they are out. The remaining teams continue to play until they are down to one player each. The last person to spell the word correctly wins.
Project Discussion
-
Pair the students off for a project discussion. Depending on the subject matter that is being studied, allow the students to come up with a project to work on together. They can formulate ideas, take notes and spend time planning the start of their project. This also promotes teamwork by having them collaborate on something, and if desired, the end results could be judged in a contest by teachers or the other students.
