Roller Coaster Bulletin Board Ideas
Classroom bulletin boards should be both decorative and educational. Use a roller coaster-themed bulletin board in conjunction with lesson plans to create boards that the children can interact with. Individual cars on the roller coaster can also be used to highlight student birthdays or welcome them to the first day of class.

Birthday Roller Coaster
-
Turn a classroom bulletin board into a unique birthday calendar with a roller coaster theme. Create a curvy roller coaster track that spans the length of the bulletin board. Attach 12 paper roller coaster cars along the track and label them with the months of the year. Cut out a picture of each student and attach the pictures above the cars that are labeled with the month they were born. Leave the bulletin board display up throughout the year to remind the students whose birthday is coming up.
Counting Cars
-
Use a roller coaster-themed bulletin board in the classroom to teach younger children how to count to 100. Cover a bulletin board with colored butcher paper. Use a black permanent marker to draw a roller coaster track that winds back and forth across the board. Cut out 100 paper roller coaster cars from colored construction paper. If desired, label each car with a number from one to 100. Hang the cars in numerical order along the track. Give each student practice counting the cars. Hang their pictures above the car that they have learned to count to.

Back To School
-
For a back to school theme, cover a classroom bulletin board with butcher paper and attach paper cutouts along the board to form a roller coaster track. Give each student a paper roller coaster car as he comes to class on the first day. Provide crayons, markers, stickers and glitter and instruct the students to decorate their cars. Help each student attach her decorated car to the track on the bulletin board and glue a picture of herself above her car.
Measuring Fun
-
Create an interactive roller coaster bulletin board for your students to use when learning about measurements. Cover the board with a solid colored sheet of butcher paper to create a background. Cut out paper pieces to form a roller coaster track that varies in height and curves across the board. Attach multiple colors of roller coaster cars along the track. Design each car to be a different height and length. Ask the class questions about the length, width and height of the cars and portions of the track. Let each student have a turn measuring the pieces on the bulletin board with a ruler to find the answer.
