Decorations for Baby Shower With a Stork Theme
Just as baby names wax and wane in popularity, shower themes come and go. But like the names Elizabeth and John, a stork baby-shower theme is a traditional, timeless choice. Find decorations, plates, gifts and cakes that highlight this theme, and make your own paper storks to hang on the walls if you can't find them at the craft or party store. Does this Spark an idea?

Stork Balloons
-
Look for party balloons with stork and baby illustrations on them. Buy pink or blue balloons, depending on the sex of the baby. If you can't find balloons with stork and baby illustrations, put stickers on them after you've blown them up.
Paper Storks
-
Go to the party store, and find paper storks carrying babies to hang on the walls at the shower. You can also make your own if you have some artistic ability. Use a pencil to draw a stork carrying a baby on a large 13-by-13 sheet of card stock. Cut out the stork, and use a white crayon to color the stork's feathers and body. The white crayon is slightly brighter than white paper, so it makes the stork stand out. Use a black crayon to create the stork eyes and outline around the feathers. Use a peach or brown crayon to color the baby's skin, depending on the mother's coloring. Color the baby's blanket blue or pink as a finishing touch.

Plush Stork Carrying a Baby
-
Go one step further by featuring a large plush stuffed-animal stork carrying a baby doll in a pink, purple or blue receiving blanket. Wrap the doll in the blanket, and tie it at the ends. Put the tied blanket over the stork's nose, head or shoulder. Place this decoration on the present table.
Stork Punch Bowl
-
No baby shower is complete without cold beverages. Create a stork-themed punch bowl filled with the mother's favorite type of punch. Place tiny plastic storks carrying babies inside an ice cube tray, and fill it up with punch. Freeze the ice cubes, and fill up a bowl with blue punch and leave this in the fridge until the party starts. After guests begin to arrive, place the punch bowl on the table, and pour the stork ice cubes inside the bowl. If possible, put a large stork with a baby near the outside of the bowl.
