Girls will appreciate a creative and thought-out prom proposal.

Girls love the idea of a prom--getting their hair done, dressing up and going out to a fancy dinner are what they hope for in a perfect prom night. For guys on the other hand, prom can be a daunting task. Not only must the guy plan the dinner, transportation and after-prom activities, but they must also ask their date to the affair. A simple proposal in the hallway is not enough. Instead, guys need to think of creative ways to ask their date to prom.

  1. Hidden Message in a Cake

    • Bake a cake with a secret message hidden inside that your potential date will have to dig through to find the message. Bake two round layers and put the message wrapped in plastic or foil between the layers. Deliver the cake to her house or leave it on her desk before class for a fun surprise during school.

    Car Decorations

    • Decorate your potential date's car with shaving cream, streamers, balloons and messages on the windows asking her to prom. Decorate the car while its parked in the school parking lot or at her job; either way it will garner a lot of attention. She will eventually come out to her car to find a messy but fun surprise. If decorations aren't your style, consider wrapping her car in plastic wrap with a message on the windows.

    Intercom Announcement

    • During your school's daily announcements, get permission to use a minute of that time to ask your potential date to prom. Play a favorite song of hers or write a fun poem that asks her to be your date. It might be embarassing for her but it is something that other classmates and your date will always remember.

    Balloon Message

    • Deliver a large bouquet of balloons to your potential date. Include a message with the balloons instructing her to pop the balloons to find a secret message. Write the message on one slip of paper but include a slip of paper in every balloon so she has to pop all the balloons until she finds the real message. The message might say something like "I'd be up in the air if you went to prom with me!"

    Scavenger Hunt

    • Create a scavenger hunt that begins after school with a note on her car. Give your potential date clues to various locations around town; the park, a favorite restaurant or the movie theater are possible ideas. Make sure the clues are easy enough to figure out so she doesn't end up going to the wrong place. Make the final clue a place where she will meet you. Wear a sign that says "I'm the final clue", "X marks the spot" or "Will you go to prom with me?"
