Funny Mom-to-Be Gifts
Dealing with the physical and mental effects of pregnancy can be stressful. Preparing for delivery and motherhood can add to these feelings. When it comes to the baby shower, or any time during pregnancy, try to alleviate some of this stress with funny mom-to-be gifts. These gifts vary in type, but always make motherhood and pregnancy a lighthearted event. This allows mom-to-be to look past the stress and remember the joy of the situation.

Funny Shirts
-
For a gift she can use for a while, look to maternity T-shirts with funny sayings. Purchase shirts based on her sense of humor, as sayings may be vulgar, such as "This is what happens when you party naked." Examples of other funny T-shirt sayings include "Newborn in 3...2...1..." and "Pregnant... Not Fat." You can also personalize shirts to incorporate the year of her baby's birth, such as "Mom to be 2010." Consider whether you'd like to purchase the shirt in a larger size so she can wear it throughout her pregnancy. This may be contingent upon some shirts' saying, such as "(Nobody knows I'm pregnant)," a shirt to be worn when pregnancy is not visible on her body.
Books
-
Funny books can help prepare your mom-to-be for further stages of pregnancy, delivery and motherhood in a lighthearted, enjoyable way. Look to "The Baby Owner's Manual" by By Louis Borgenicht, M.D. and Joe Borgenicht, D.A.D. This book uses a funny outlook to inform mom-to-be of important tips, like how to swaddle an infant and how to get your newborn to sleep through the night. Also try "The Girlfriends' Guide to Pregnancy" by Vicki Iovine. This book is touted as being reassuring and comforting, offering honest advice and funny anecdotes to inform readers of what could go wrong in pregnancy. "The Diaper Diaries: The Real Poop on a New Mom's First Year" by Cynthia L. Copeland also takes a blunt-but-funny approach to describe essential mom-hood information. Copeland also uses anecdotes to help relay her messages.

Cards
-
If you're unsure of shirts or books, try a funny card. You can purchase a card from the baby's perspective, with sayings such as "Party at my crib! Bring you own bottle!" Or you can try a gender-based card, like one with a pair of boy's briefs on the front and the sentiment "It's a Boy!" on the back. For mom-based cards, look to those that list funny "Mom" sayings, like "Now what did I just tell you?" and "Your face is going to freeze like that."
Diaper Cakes
-
Volunteer to take care of the cake-buying part of the baby shower or get-together and create a humorous baby diaper cake. These cakes are three-tiered, with the outer surface of the cake clad in baby diapers. The cake also features colors and toys based on the baby's gender, as well as essentials, like wash cloths, pacifier, baby lotion and soap. The cake's funny undertone may even break the ice among many party attendees. Cakes come in different designs to accommodate lower-budget parties.
