Keylogger Prevention
Keyloggers are malicious applications that reside secretly on your computer and record every keystroke you make in order to gain access to your private information. For example, a keylogger can record your passwords or bank account information as you type them, then send that information back to the keylogger's creator so that he can use it to get into your accounts. Preventing a keylogger from being on your computer can be done by using your computer safely and securing it properly.

Prevention Software
-
As a keylogger is a type of malicious application, it can be picked up by a number of free applications such and antivirus and antispyware programs. Download a program such as Comodo Internet Security, AdAware, Spybot: S&D or Avira AntiVir and install it on your computer. Not only will these programs usually detect any keylogger on your computer during a scan, but they can also stop any that try to install themselves.
Computer Use
-
Be careful of whom you let use your computer. One way that a keylogger can be installed is by someone putting it on your computer herself, so don't leave it unattended. If you have to leave it with other people around, make sure you log off or password-protect your session, and make sure that the password is one that only you know. If people can't access your computer, they can't install anything on it.

Removal
-
If there is a keylogger on your computer, you can usually find it by performing a scan with one of the applications mentioned above, then deleting it after the scan is complete. To be absolutely sure, it's a good idea to perform a scan with multiple programs, because not all programs will be able to find every type of keylogger.
Change Information
-
If you removed a keylogger from your computer, there is not always a way to tell how long it has been there. After removing it and making sure it is gone, immediately change all of your passwords, whether they are on your computer or online. Call your bank to see if any unauthorized transactions have been made, and change your PIN as well. It is very important to change any and all information that could have been recorded by the keylogger so the person who received it will not be able to access your accounts.
