What Kind of Gifts Do You Give to Someone Throwing Your Shower?
Your baby, adoption or bridal shower is a special party designed to celebrate a new part of your life with friends and family members. While the party revolves around a special event in your life, realize that the person throwing your shower put in hours of work and preparation. A small gift shows the hostess that you appreciate and care about her efforts in making your day as special and memorable as possible.

Food
-
Bake a small loaf of bread, several cupcakes or a cake for your hostess. If the person throwing your shower enjoys a specific snack, pick that up for her and bring it to the party. You could also select several fresh pastries or muffins from a local bakery. Fresh food is a tasty and useful gift, but most importantly, it's something the hostess won't have to worry about cluttering her home.
Flowers
-
Find out what your hostess' favorite flower is and send or bring her a bouquet. Attach a short note of thanks to present with the flowers. The day of the shower will undoubtedly be overwhelming and busy for the person organizing it, so send the flowers ahead of time or bring them in a small vase. This way the hostess won't be hassled with trying to find a vase during the party and can instead focus on the guests.

Candles
-
Choose a large candle or several small ones in scents the hostess will enjoy. If the person throwing your shower has a favorite smell, select a candle in that scent. If you aren't sure what the hostess enjoys, consider seasonal smells that will delight visitors to the hostess's home. For example, during the winter holiday months, choose apple pie or pumpkin spice scented candles.
Gift Basket
-
Buy a premade gift basket or create your own. A gift basket usually contains several related items that your hostess can enjoy alone or with a friend. For example, if the person throwing your shower enjoys wine, create a gift basket with a bottle of wine, crackers and cheeses for her to enjoy. If the person throwing your shower enjoys watching movies, select a DVD or two for the basket and include popcorn and a bottle of soda.
