Oberlin, in the far north of Kansas, is the county seat of Decatur County. The town is noted for having been the location of the last Indian raid in Kansas, which took place in 1878 when the Northern Cheyenne attacked nearby homesteads. Oberlin's Last Indian Raid Museum has more than 15,000 antiques and artifacts on display.

The Oberlin Inn is close to the junction of Routes 36 and 83. The inn has 18 guestrooms -- including one with a 55-inch television and a hot tub. Guestrooms have a limited number of the usual amenities. Coffee and toast are served free at breakfast time. Restaurants in town include two Pizza Huts, the Frontier Restaurant and the Teller Room, all within a five-minute drive of the motel. Children 11 and under stay free when using the same room as their parents.

The It'll do Motel is in the heart of Atwood, approximately 27 miles to the west of Oberlin along Route 36. The motel has 12 guestrooms and six suites. All of the rooms have a private bathroom or shower, free wireless Internet and the usual amenities found in smaller motels. A restaurant is less than a block away. The motel has a children's play area and a small convention center, with a full kitchen, that will seat 30 people and has a full kitchen. The motel allows pets.
