EPSRC Travel Grants
The Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, a government agency in the United Kingdom, supports research in the fields of mathematics, technology, chemistry, physics, engineering, communications and materials science. Based in Swindon, the EPSRC employs approximately 300 people. The EPSRC received its Royal Charter from Queen Elizabeth II in 1993.

Mission

The EPSRC's mission is to support and promotion of top quality research and postgraduate training for engineers and scientists. It aims for the advance of technology and knowledge in its research fields and related industries, contributing to the country's quality of life and economic competitiveness. It focuses on three Es: Excellence in supporting top projects and people;
Engagement by forming alliances and partnerships between the research and business community; and Empowerment, by "promoting an enterprising culture of adventure and excitement in which people seize opportunities and make things happen."
Travel Grants

To realize its goals and missions, the EPSRC provides travel grants to its researchers and employees in other fields for overseas projects. Grants do not have specific closing dates or funding limitations, as well no definitive time limit. Funding may be used to visit one research center or several.

Destinations

Grants may be used for visiting research centers outside of the United Kingdom or to visit international research partners for project development purposes. There are no restrictions on the countries involved for travel grant eligibility if it includes visits to accredited research centers. Visa costs may be included in the grant proposal. While grants are restricted to international travel, funding is available through the EPSRC for foreign collaborative researchers to visit the United Kingdom for projects.
Applications

Any full-time researcher, other than PhD students, working for an accredited research organization based in the United Kingdom may apply for overseas travel grants. Funding includes travel, meal and lodging costs, salary for the lead investigator for the time involved, along with indirect costs. Submit proposals through the EPSRC electronic submission system. The EPRSC uses a peer review process for proposal funding decision-making. Apply a minimum of three months before the proposed trip.
