Eating foods rich in fiber can help to shift your unwanted belly fat.

Everybody knows the secret to a healthy body and mind is a balanced diet combined with plenty of exercise and a healthy attitude. But sometimes, no matter how hard you try to stick to a vigorous weight-loss plan, the results do not always show on your stomach, as the fat on your stomach can be especially stubborn. Tone up your tummy with these belly-busting secrets you can easily incorporate into your diet.

  1. Eat More

    • Eating more can actually help to shift your stubborn belly fat, but only if you eat more of the right stuff. According to the Framingham Nutrition Study, women who eat 400 more calories and eat healthier foods are 2 1/2 times less likely to develop abdominal obesity, compared with women who consume fewer calories but more foods high in saturated fat. Pack your diet full of low-fat foods, protective nutrients, and ample amounts of fruits and vegetables.

    Protein

    • Protein helps to make you feel fuller for longer and can contribute to overall weight loss, specifically in the abdominal region. Monounsaturated fats found in seafood can help eradicate cholesterol and shrink fat around your stomach, so opt for fish, such as tuna or salmon, in your diet instead of red meat at least three times a week. Seafood is also rich in omega-3, a good fat, which helps to reduce the production of adrenaline, a stress hormone that adds to an increase in surplus belly bulge.

    Drink Water, With a Twist

    • Drinking lots of water throughout the day keeps your cells hydrated, helps to curb cravings and aids digestion. It also speeds up the process of burning your unwanted belly fat. Adding a twist of a couple of slices of lemon or lime to your water each day gives you a bonus boost of vitamin C.

    Fiber

    • Fiber gives you the nutrients your body needs for the proper digestion of food. Too little fiber in your diet can often cause bloating because your body is not eliminating waste correctly. Including foods rich in fiber, such as whole grains, beans, fruits and vegetables, into your diet is a great way to prevent a belly bulge.
