There are three kinds of eyelash curlers including plastic curlers, metal curlers and heated eyelash curlers, which can be purchased at a drugstore. However, some women don’t like using eyelash curlers because they find that they damage their lashes. There are ways to curl your lashes without a mechanical device. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Spoon Technique

    • Comb through your eyelashes using your fingers, a toothbrush or an eyelash comb. The goal is to get your eyelashes pointing in the same direction. Heat up a spoon by holding it under hot tap water for half a minute. Press your eye lashes upward and against the back part of the spoon. Don’t touch your face or actual eye with the hot spoon. Keep pressing until the spoon cools off. This will curl your lashes.

    Heat Your Curler

    • If you prefer using an eyelash curler, consider heating your curler by blowing hot air from a hair dryer onto the curler and then curling your lashes. Be careful not to touch your skin with the curler because it is hot. You can also heat an eyelash curler by holding it under hot water. When the curler is hot, it curls your lashes better and the curl lasts longer.

    Your Fingers

    • Apply mascara and allow it to dry. Warm up your fingers by blowing on them using your hair dryer. Now use your fingers and put them under your lashes and push upward. Hold the lashes in this position for about 15 seconds. If your lashes aren’t as curled as you wish, do it again.

    Tips

    • If you are using an eyelash curler, don't curl your lashes once you have applied mascara because this can result in damage to the lashes. In addition, doing this can cause the mascara to clump up around the ridge of the eye.

    Hygiene

    • You must keep hygiene in mind when using any eyelash curler. Wash and disinfect it after each use, and make sure your fingers are clean if you are using the hand method. You don’t want to introduce dirt into your eyes or the eye area by using an eyelash curler or fingers that aren't clean. The pads in your eyelash curler will wear out. About six times a year you need to replace the pads because they can harbor bacteria.
