Missouri Agriculture Scholarships
Missouri residents who want to study some facet of agriculture at college can find scholarships to help pay for college. Residents can apply for scholarships that are not major-specific or they can apply for scholarships in which an agriculture major must be declared. A number of Missouri agriculture scholarships require students to be graduates of a certain high school or members of a specific organization.

Missouri Farm Bureau

The Missouri Farm Bureau provides several scholarships for students majoring in agriculture at college. Applicants and/or their parents are required to be members of the Farm Bureau. As of 2011, the Farm Bureau gives one $1,000 scholarship to sophomores and above at six Missouri colleges: Truman State, Southeast Missouri State, College of the Ozarks, Missouri State, Northwest Missouri State and University of Central Missouri. It also awards four $500 scholarships to students enrolled in vocational programs related to agriculture, such as welding and farm machinery repair.
Missouri State Fair

The Missouri State Fair partners with the MO 4-H Foundation to offer scholarships to students who exhibit at the state fair through 4-H or Future Farmers of America. The scholarships, which are partially funded by proceeds from the student livestock auctions at the fair, are for $1,000 as of 2011. Students must major in agriculture or an agriculture field at a Missouri college or university.

Missouri State University

Missouri State University at Springfield awards scholarships annually at the William H. Darr School of Agriculture's annual banquet. Recipients must be full-time agriculture majors with an agriculture department adviser. One scholarship, the Agriculture Alumni Scholarship, funded by contributions to the school's agriculture department, is awarded on the basis of grades and leadership abilities. Another example is the Carr Farm Scholarship, established by a local farm family, which gives preference to applicants who are members of 4-H or Future Farmers. A third scholarship is the Farmers Cooperative Livestock Marketing Scholarship, which goes to ag majors studying agribusiness or animal sciences. Applicants must be 4-H or FFA members as well as reside in specific counties.
University of Central Missouri

The University of Central Missouri at Warrensburg offers numerous scholarship opportunities for agriculture majors. The list includes the Clarence Pearce Agriculture Scholarship, which gives preference to students studying agriculture education. Applicants must be at least a junior at the college; leadership qualities also are a factor in the award. Another scholarship, the Theiss Family Scholarship, is open only to students who live in Johnson County, Missouri. Applicants must be at least sophomores at the college.
