Jobs in International Christian Schools
If you want to work abroad at a Christian school, there are a number of positions you can consider.Generally, all positions at international Christian schools can be classified as either teaching or administrative. Elementary School Teacher
-
Elementary school teachers need to be able to teach elementary school curricula, which in addition to academic classes, may include Sunday school classes. Elementary school teachers are required to have specialized training, ideally a master's degree in education. Experience teaching or instructing small children for at least three years is also desirable. Also, elementary school teachers should be able to identify children's individual learning styles. They also need to serve as role models for students.
Middle School Teacher
-
Middle school teachers need to have similar qualifications as elementary school teachers. However, they should have a deeper knowledge of the Bible than elementary school teachers because Bible studies are more advanced in middle school. A fluency in a foreign language is an advantage, as many positions at international Christian schools are in non-English-speaking countries. The responsibilities of middle school teacher include teaching the curriculum, meeting with parents, supervising extracurricular and after-school activities and dealing with children's crises such as minor scrapes or forgotten lunches.

High School Teacher
-
The position of a high school teacher at an international Christian school requires an advanced knowledge in a particular subject, such as English, mathematics, physics, chemistry, history, religion, computer science or physical education. High school Christian teachers must also be dedicated to helping students develop a Christian worldview that will guide the students' decisions.
Administrative
-
Administrative positions at international Christian schools include the positions of an administrator, principal, head of school, athletic director and director of admissions. Successful candidates must typically have administrative experience in an educational context, be responsible and should highly respect or, better still, practice the Christian faith.
