The Differences Between Twin & Full-Size Beds
Whether a person is sleeping alone or in a bed with someone else, the size of the bed matters. In fact, according to Better Sleep Council, purchasing too small of a bed is one of the biggest mistakes a new bed buyer can make. Those making a decision between full- and twin-size beds should learn some fundamental differences between the two bed types. Does this Spark an idea?

Size
-
The biggest difference between a full size and twin size bed lies in their measurements. A full-size bed, also referred to as a double bed, measures approximately 53 by 74.5 inches. A twin-size bed is much smaller, measuring 38 by 74.5 inches. The size difference becomes especially important for anyone decorating a bedroom or guest room. A twin bed can fit in almost every room due to its smaller size. However, in a small room, a full-size bed may not fit along with any other furniture in the room.
Comfort
-
Traditionally, children sleep in twin beds before they transition to a larger bed such as a full bed. Two adults wouldn't be able to sleep comfortably in a twin bed. The extra 27 inches of space offered by a full-size bed will allow couples to feel less cramped than they would in a twin bed. In addition, a full-size bed provides much space than a twin bed for an adult sleeping alone.

Price
-
Twin beds are cheaper than larger sizes such as a full-size bed. Bedding for full-size beds -- such as sheets and comforters -- is more expensive than bedding for a twin size bed. Bedroom sets such as bed rails for full-size beds also cost more than their twin counterparts.
Considerations
-
A healthy sleeper shifts from one side to another or makes a complete full-body turn at least 40 to 60 times a night. When purchasing a bed, consider the space you'll require to move around; a full-size bed will provide more space than will a twin. Also consider the firmness of the mattress. Whether you purchase a full- or twin-size bed, look for a bed that will provide the correct level of support while you sleep.
