The heat is on for parents to host the perfect birthday party for their children. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Princess Party

    • A princess-themed party is a perfect idea for 6-year-old girls. Asks guests to dress up as their favorite princess or provide a trunk of dress up clothes for the guests to wear during the party. Decorate the party with castles, crowns and pink and purple balloons, streamers and confetti. Guests can play games such as pin the crown on the princess and decorate magic wands or glass slippers. Be sure to hang a frog-shaped pinata, and serve dainty princess snacks such as tea sandwiches, crown-shaped cookies and miniature cupcakes.

    Spa Party

    • Consider a spa party for your 6-year-old girl who loves to be pampered. Purchase a robe for each guest to wear at the party or make robes using extra large T-shirts that are cut down the middle and sewn to look like robes. Set up a nail polish station, a facial station and a makeup station for the guests to paint their fingers and toes, apply facial cream and have fun putting on makeup. Serve fresh fruits, veggies, sandwiches and cupcakes. Send guests home with their own spa kit that includes nail polish, lotion and makeup.

    LEGO Party

    • Little boys love LEGOs. Throw a LEGO-themed birthday party for your LEGO lover by sending out LEGO-themed invitations that include real LEGO pieces in the envelopes, decorate the party in bright LEGO colors such as red, blue, green and yellow, and play LEGO games. LEGO games to consider include LEGO building contests to see who can build the most creative creature, the best building or the tallest tower. Bake a LEGO birthday cake by topping rectangular cakes with cupcakes to create the LEGO studs. Give guests a small box of LEGOs to take home and be sure to serve LEGO-shaped candy.

    Pirate Party

    • Boys and girls alike will enjoy a pirate-themed party. Decorate the party with skulls and crossbones, treasure chests and balloons and streamers in gold and black. Buy pirate hats and eye patches for guests to wear or rent a trunk full of pirate costumes; play games including a treasure hunt and pin the patch on the pirate. Serve a pirate-themed cake shaped as a pirate ship or pirate hat and food such as fish crackers and gummy octopus. Give guests their own treasure chest full of pirate candy to take home as a party favor.
