Things to Photograph

The sky is the limit in photography.

Whether you are interested in photography merely as a weekend hobby or you aspire to become a world-famous fashion photographer, it is important to get some practice with different subjects. Photography can be a fun and liberating artistic process due to the fact that the subjects are virtually boundless.

Animals

Animals are fascinating photography subjects due to their countless varieties, shapes and sizes. Whether you choose to photograph a massive and exotic elephant at a zoo or a small house cat, you can achieve a result that is dramatic and visually interesting. Animals are accessible and will not be offended if you photograph them without their permission.

Family Portraits

Photographing people is a fascinating way in which to capture the dynamic of individuals, from their posture to the look in their eyes. One interesting idea is to photograph a classic family portrait, which aims to retrieve the essence and the spirit of the group as a whole. Family portraits allow you to test yourself and your ability to photograph things that are "alive" with emotions and opinions.

Weather

One thing that most photographers all have access to is weird weather changes. Sometimes, just by stepping onto your doorstep, you can observe with your own eyes phenomena such as lightning, tornadoes, snowstorms and hail -- all of which, when captured properly, can be visually stunning. If you are not experiencing any inclement weather, consider photographing the sky at dawn or dusk, which may appear to be a blend of blue, purple, orange, red and yellow.

Landmarks

Provide your own spin on some of the planet's most famous and monumental landmarks, such as the Eiffel Tower in Paris, the Taj Mahal in India and the White House in Washington, D.C. Although these images have been seen countless times the world over, it can be a fun experiment to practice your hand at photographing these landmarks, and to try to improve on what you have seen before.
