Halloween Activities for Youth Group Meetings
Young kids enjoy Halloween because it's a time they can dress up and go trick-or-treating. Youth group leaders struggle at times with what to do on Halloween, because their youth are too old to go trick-or-treating, and the church may be opposed to celebrating the holiday with all its evil characters. Creative youth group leaders, however, can plan fun activities on Halloween geared toward teenagers.

Fall Festival Costume Party
-
Host a fall festival costume party where judges award prizes in different categories. Categories may include best costume, most creative design and most bizarre costume. Youth group leaders can make a rule that no evil characters, such as witches or demons, will be allowed for the party. The event can also include a band with a sing-a-long, skits and a game show. The prizes for best costumes can be scholarships for upcoming youth group trips.
Pumpkin Bowling
-
Using a noncarpeted floor in a hallway or basement of a building, have a pumpkin bowling night. Pins can be 10 two-liter bottles, with pumpkins as the bowling balls. Make sure to get three to four pumpkins, since they will break from repeated use. Divide the youth into teams and see which team gets the best score. You can have a pumpkin theme for the night by having a pumpkin pie eating contest as well.

Corn Maze
-
Take the youths to a corn maze. Farmers sometimes make corn mazes as a way of making additional income. The kids come at night and form groups to try and find their way out of the corn maze. Corn maze owners may have characters at different parts of the maze to scare the teens. A creative youth leader can conclude the event by giving a talk on what mazes are or confusing things going on in teenagers' lives today.
Bible Hero Night
-
Youth group members dress up as their favorite Bible heroes. The group leader can organize a game of Bible hero trivia and then give a talk on what makes a Bible hero and how God has called us to be heroes today.
Murder Mystery Dinner Theater
-
Give youth characters to portray in a murder mystery dinner theater night. Assign them their characters ahead of time so they can come up with appropriate costumes. Scripts can be found on the Internet for different murder mysteries. Have adults in the church provide the meal for the dinner theater. Youth who show up that night without an assigned character can be given additional character names and find extra costumes provided by the youth leader.
