Easter Basket with Real Grass
-
Start this activity two or three weeks before Easter. Select plastic, wicker or any basket. Sit with your toddler and help him line the basket interior with aluminum foil. Once the lining is complete, give your toddler potting soil and ask him to fill the basket with it. Give him some rye seeds to sprinkle on top of the soil. Cover it with a quarter inch of soil and get him to sprinkle some water on top for moistening. Ask him to cover the basket with plastic wrap; this will require your help. Once wrapped, put the basket in a warm place, such as on top of a refrigerator. Keep checking to see if the rye seeds have sprouted. Remove the plastic wrap once they sprout. Keep a watch along with your toddler to see if the grass shows signs of drying; ask your toddler to water it slightly if it starts drying. Check the basket with your toddler after a few weeks. The sight of beautiful green grass is sure to delight your toddler. Have him put Easter eggs or goodies in the basket.
The Easter Goody Basket
-
Take a basket of any size. Fill it with Easter grass and hide it. Hide Easter goodies in different places in the house. Give clues to your toddler to locate the basket and the goodies. Let her hunt for the basket and each goody and prepare the Easter basket on her own. Insert a greeting card into the basket once she has her Easter basket ready.

Milk Carton Easter Basket
-
Place a milk carton along its length (not standing erect but in a sleeping position). Cut one side of the carton, which will render a basket like feel to the carton. Now ask your toddler to choose a color construction paper for the basket. Cut his choice of construction paper for wrapping around the carton. Ask him to glue it to the carton, and help him do it correctly. Cut a strip from the panel you removed to make a handle for the basket. Ask your toddler to glue it to the basket. Give him a pair of big googly eyes to glue on either side of the spout, and give him Easter goodies to fill the basket.
Berry Easter Basket
-
Use a plastic berry basket for the task. Ask your toddler to insert ribbons or yarn into the openings while you loop it and make knots. Take a wired ribbon and attach the ribbon's either end to each end of the basket to make a handle. Include your child in making the handle if she can do it. Give a piece of tissue paper or a paper towel to your kid and ask her to line the bottom of the basket on the inside. Ask her to fill the basket with Easter goodies.
