The Kohler Company, headquartered in Kohler, Wisconsin, produces consumer and commercial products, especially plumbing products like toilets. As of 2011, Kohler offers three types of toilets: compact elongated, round-front and elongated. These include both one- and two-piece toilets. You can purchase Kohler products from local home improvement stores. Always measure your available space before purchasing a toilet.
Kohler offers toilets with rough-ins generally between 10 inches and 14 inches long. The rough-in is the distance between the finished wall and the middle of the floor flange. You must measure this distance before purchasing a new toilet. The standard rough-in is 12 inches but the rough-in that you need depends on your space. Kohler toilets include round and elongated toilets. A round-front toilet has a circular seat and opening and the elongated toilets have an oblong shape. The compact elongated toilets look the same as the standard elongated toilets but they aren’t as long.
All compact elongated toilets are 27 3/4 inches long but the width and height vary by model. The height is usually around 26 or 28 inches high. The width ranges from 17 to more than 20 inches wide. All of these models have a rough-in measure of 12 inches. A representative version of these toilets is the Santa Rosa model. The dimensions of this toilet are 27 1/2 inches long by 18 3/4 inches wide by 26 3/4 inches high. The toilet holds up to 1.6 gallons of water.
The round-front toilets have either 12-inch or 14-inch rough-in sizes and this series includes both one- and two-piece toilets. The 12-in rough-in toilets range from about 27 to 28 inches long and they are between around 18 and 19 inches wide. The height ranges from 28 3/4 inches high to more than 30 inches high. The dimensions for the 14 inch toilets are all the same: 29 5/8 inches long by 18 1/4 inches wide by 28 3/4 inches high.
The standard elongated toilets offer more variety for rough-in sizes: 4 inch, 10 inch, 12 inch and 14 inch. These toilets also come in either one or two pieces. The 4-inch rough-in toilets come in two sizes: 28 3/4 inches long by 21 1/4 inches wide by 29 1/4 inches high or 31 1/2 inches long by 21 1/4 inches wide by 31 1/4 inches high.
The 10-inch rough-in toilets are around 29 inches long by between 18 and 19 inches wide by between 28 and more than 31 inches high. The 12-inch rough-in toilets range in size between 28 and 29 inches long by between 14 and 20 inches wide by 26 and 30 inches high. The 14-inch rough-in toilets range in size from about 28 to 32 inches long by about 18 inches and 20 inches wide by around 28 inches high.
