Cute Foot Tattoo Ideas

The top of your foot can be an ideal place for a tattoo.

A tattoo on the top of your foot can be a good place because it can be easily covered for professional purposes or exposed if you desire. The surface area on top of your foot is somewhat limited so your tattoo can't be overly large but there is more than enough space for a nicely detailed tattoo about the size of a credit card, depending on the length of your foot.

Rosary Beads

The typical place for rosary beads is around your wrist and down onto your hand, but a unique and interesting place can be around your ankles and down onto the top of your foot. They carry some religious overtones, but not so much as to be restricted only to hard-core church goers. They can be done in traditional black and gray or in color depending on preference. A cross is usually at the head of a rosary, but artistic license can permit any religious figure, such as a Buddha or star of David.

The Greek god Hermes was the messenger for Zeus and is depicted as having wings on his feet. Consequently, tattooed wings on the tops of your feet flaring out on either side can denote quickness and speed. This tattoo is ideal for athletes or people who simply enjoy running. They can be shaped to mirror any type of wings, including angels, a variety of birds or even bats, depending on preference. They can also be done in either color or black and gray.

Script

Script tattoos can have almost any reason or meaning. They can be one word or several sentences portrayed in a variety of font and size possibilities. For a script tattoo on top your foot, you should have three to six words at the most because of the limited space. Any more than that and the font may be too small to read easily. The quote can be anything meaningful to you, or something that can correlate to feet or footwear, such as "Made for Walkin'." Traditional script is done in black and gray, but you can choose color.

Comical Ideas

Not all tattoos have to be serious and deep. You can tattoo a bear, symbolizing your "bare foot" or a spider web to jokingly refer to a "webbed foot." You can have laces strapped up the top of your foot into a bow to mirror the look of a shoe or a scaled down 12-inch ruler, symbolizing a "foot."
