There are many projects that use marshmallows.

Marshmallows are fascinating substances. They are edible, but feel more like soft toys than food, which will help you discover a variety of uses for marshmallows. Kindergarteners have several craft and game options that use marshmallows. These crafts and games can be fun during holiday season or at any time of the year.

  1. Marshmallow Tower

    • Supply children with a large number of full-sized marshmallows. The children should try to stack as many as possible to create a marshmallow tower. The child with the highest tower after five minutes wins the game. You can also supply the class with toothpicks to aid in tower construction, but some children may hurt themselves on the toothpicks. Use the maturity of your class or child as a guide when deciding to use toothpicks.

    Marshmallow Bunny

    • Give each child a large marshmallow. Print copies of a bunny face that is small enough to fit on the flat end of a marshmallow. Give each child a bunny face to color. After the children color the bunnies, they should "glue" the face onto the side of the marshmallow with icing. Glue on a mini-marshmallow tail to the back of the marshmallow to complete the bunny. Children can eat their creations later in the day or take them home for later.

    Marshmallow Rainbow

    • This craft requires the use of colored mini-marshmallows. Cut a piece of paper into a rainbow shape for each child. You could also just use a plain sheet of paper and instruct the children to lay the marshmallows in a rainbow shape. The children should glue one row of colored marshmallows in an arch shape. Use another color for a second stripe and so on until the children have used all of the available colors.

    Marshmallow Fight

    • This is a fun game that kindergarteners should love. Divide the room into two equal halves. Divide the children into two teams. Supply each team with plastic spoons and a large bowl of marshmallows. Set a timer for five minutes. During the game, the children place a marshmallow on their spoon and try to fling it over to the other side of the room. At the end of the game, the team with the least number of marshmallows on their side wins.
