Flower Arrangement Ideas for a Bridal Shower

Even simple flower arrangements can make a big impact.

While there are many details to consider when planning a bridal shower, keep in mind that the flower arrangements will be among the most prominently displayed. Guests may enjoy fleeting moments of delight as they nibble on appetizers or play games, but they will have the floral arrangements in their sight throughout the event. Enchant your guests with original creations that complement the shower's theme, and your flowers may become part of the conversation instead of simply décor.

Submerged Flowers

Create a stunning look by submerging cut flowers in water. First, choose your flower variety. Any type of flower will work, but some hold up better in water than others. Try using orchids, tulips, roses or hydrangeas. Find a clear glass vase that is at least two inches taller than your cut flowers. Add a layer of clean stones or marbles to the bottom of the vase and pour water to an inch from the top of the vase. Submerge one, two or three stems of your cut flowers, arranging them as you would like. Add floating candles for a touch of ambiance.

Floral and Feather

This type of arrangement is well-suited for a glamorous bride. Begin with a short, round glass vase. Add one or two types of flowers that match the shower's color scheme. Cut the flowers so the bulbs just peek out over the top of the vase. Fill the vase with as many flowers as can comfortably fit. Insert a peacock or ostrich feather between the feathers, just slightly off center.

Flowers and Candy

For a flower arrangement that screams "fun," add a pop of color and some sweet treats. Choose a short and brightly colored ceramic vase; be sure the color coordinates with the shower decor. Choose flowers with youthful appeal, such as gerbera daisies or daffodils. Cut the stem of each flower so the bulb sits about one inch above the vase. Fill the vase with flowers and insert three five-inch multi-colored lollipops.

Monochromatic

A flower arrangement made of one color can make a bold statement at your event. Assemble vases entirely of one color that is predominant in your décor. This can be done with bold, vibrant colors or delicate pastels. If you cannot find a vase in the right shade, buy clear glass and wrap it in fabric. You may opt to use one type of flower or three, as long as they are the same color. For example, you may use pink roses, carnations and peonies.
